Position Overview:

Tom Steyer 2020 is seeking a highly skilled political professional to join our national campaign team. The Arkansas State Director will develop the state plan, oversee the implementation, and  hire and manage state based staff. Candidates must have strong communication skills, a commitment to progressive change, great work ethic and professionalism.

This person will:

  • Oversee an organization focused on building capacity, engaging local activists, and increasing the candidate’s presence and stature, while preparing for the 2020 State Primary. 
  • Develop a staffing plan and hiring timeline for a 2020 Presidential Race in Arkansas in collaboration with HQ HR and leadership.
  • Works with National staff team on development and implementation of program, goals, and metrics of success. 
  • Assist the political team in maintaining political partnerships with key stakeholders and supporting organizations across Arkansas
  • Serve as chief strategist on local and state issues for Arkansas.
  • Work with vendors and help craft a paid media strategy.   
  • Develop and maintain a state budget.
  • Interface directly with candidate during all in-state trips
  • Manage in state staff.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:

  • 7+ years of political staff management. 
  • Very well organized; excellent written, verbal and presentation communications skills
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues and outside organizations and be able to multitask without sacrificing quality of work.
  • Demonstrated understanding of political climate and issues of Arkansas.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Experience managing statewide races in Arkansas.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative, team-oriented work environment.
  • Experience hiring large teams, developing a training program, and setting expectations and goals.
  • Experience organizing in communities of color and prior training in anti-oppression, equity and inclusion organizing.
  • Experience working on Presidential campaigns.
