    Public Citizen works on a diverse portfolio of health, safety, environmental, justice and democracy issues, united by a concern about the damaging impact of excessive corporate power.

    Commercial Alert aims to keep the commercial culture in its proper sphere, and to prevent it from exploiting children and subverting the higher values of community, environmental integrity and democracy. A priority project of Commercial Alert aims to end the marketing of infant formula in hospitals and other health care facilities.

    We are looking for a dynamic and experienced coordinator to help assist in the development and execution of various cutting edge campaigns tied to Commercial Alert. Utilizing the tools of strategic research, organizing, media and online communications, the Campaign Coordinator will play an integral role in curbing excessive corporate power.

    Specific Responsibilities:


    • Primary responsibility is to be part of the effort to develop and execute a strategy for Commercial Alert, with a special focus on the Infant Formula Marketing campaign.
    • Maintain and build relationships with core coalition partners and allies. Represent Public Citizen to the public, elected officials and media.
    • Maintain and update the Commercial Alert website, through posting of summaries of relevant news articles, campaign updates and other relevant information.
    • Develop campaign related materials such as preparing action alerts, tool kits and campaign initiatives on commercialism-related issues.
    • Draft reports, fact sheets, and articles based on research for distribution to the media, policy makers and advocacy groups, with a special focus on our Infant Formula Marketing campaign.
    • Assist in developing social media and traditional media outreach plans, with a special focus on the Infant Formula Marketing campaign.
    • Undertake occasional additional research projects under the direction of the president.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Requirements:


    • College degree preferred.
    • 1-2 years of campaign experience and commitment to Public Citizen’s work and campaigns. Interest and commitment to the Infant Formula Marketing campaign a must.
    • Strong analytic, research, and written and oral communications skills
    • Research and policy advocacy experience is preferred.
    • Familiarity with social media and online communications is preferred.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, respond to short-term deadlines and balance multiple responsibilities; maintain strong attention to detail and accuracy; and be persistent.
