Campaign Strategist

POSITION OVERVIEW: 

Reporting to the National Director of Gift Planning, the Campaign Strategist takes a leading role in planning and implementing the Bequest Challenge campaign.  The work will involve interacting with and influencing people and processes in the Gift Planning department, Development Division, and across Planned Parenthood.  

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

·         Works to promote the Bequest Challenge within Planned Parenthood.  Ensures that PPFA and each participating affiliate complete a memo of understanding.  Recruits Bequest Challenge contacts at each participating affiliate.  

·         Writes Bequest Challenge emails, memos, and other communications.  Creates and tests prototype forms.  Creates and scripts Power Point presentations for affiliate staff and prototype presentations for affiliate boards. 

·         Leads and/or co-leads presentations in the field and via webinars.     

·         Contributes to the writing of the Bequest Challenge playbook.  

·         Plans for the workflow of Bequest Challenge inquiries/responses to PPFA and affiliate gift officers.  Establishes national database protocols, recommends affiliate protocols, and trains gift officers.  Ensures that both national and affiliate planned gift and legacy society status is well-documented in all systems.  

·         Reviews commitment forms received in response to the Bequest Challenge and assigns challenge dollar values. 

·         Personally responds to, or ensures that a gift officer has personally responded to, every inquiry and reply, and that all gift commitments are acknowledged.  Works with affiliate staff contacts to resolve any questions related to responses of affiliate donors and with national planned giving officer staff to resolve any questions related to responses of national donors 

·         Strategizes with affiliate staff on bequest and blended-gift solicitations.    

·         Strategizes with affiliate staff on integrating the bequest challenge opportunity into their annual plans.  

·         Throughout the campaign, builds a master national attorney referral list for donors requesting assistance.  

·         Handles shifting responsibilities throughout the duration and phases of the campaign and other duties as assigned.  

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

·         Planned giving experience, especially related to securing bequest commitments and in a complex organizational structure  

·         Initiative that is anticipatory and predictive, consistent with new and entrepreneurial programs

·         Strong presentation skills and writing abilities, including envisioning and testing recommended procedures and policies

·         Gifted at relationship building with donors and peers across the organization  

·         Flexibility to handle a range of new and changing projects and priorities

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 Bachelors degree preferred

 Travel:  Up to 15 percent with at least 8-10 years of planned giving campaigns experience
