Wisconsin Voices Communications and Development Manager
Wisconsin Voices seeks a talented strategist with a record of success in both internal and external communications to serve as Communications and Development Manager. The Communications and Development Manager will manage all major communications for the Wisconsin Voices network and programs including Engage WI and Our Democracy 2020. We seek a talented writer and editor with a strong understanding of foundation and grants, non partisan advocacy, civic engagement, and who will maintain good relationships with partner organizations and work well as a team player in a fast-paced organization.

Wisconsin Voices believes that a democracy
is judged by its ability to ensure that all citizens can participate and have a
say in their government, and a voice in the decision-making structures around
issues that impact their lives. We are a dynamic network of over 60 nonpartisan
organizations that leverage their collective power to mobilize and empower
people, particularly those that make up the New American Majority. Wisconsin
Voices works in alliance with State Voices, a national network of
20 state networks consisting of over 700 diverse and talented organizations
working for change.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Communications and Development Manager, who is based in Milwaukee and reports to the Executive Director, is responsible for the following:
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
We’re seeking candidates who excel in persuasive writing, are strategic, results-oriented communications, strong people skills, and have strong project management. You should have:
§ Strong writing skills, should be able to create compelling and error-free written materials in the right voice/tone to match the situation/audience, with very little editing needed from ED.
§ Has a proven track record and good head for how to generate earned media - and is a utility player in communications realm.
§ Understands the nuances of messaging (can craft compelling narratives to target specific audiences), and can identify & prioritize communications opportunities.
§ Stays on top of multiple projects without dropping any balls, plans backwards and anticipates obstacles, identifies and involves stakeholders appropriately, uses resources wisely
§ Able to connect with individuals and build alliances among wide range of players in the state. Can bring partners together to create a shared vision, plan, and proposal.
Fundraising experience and experience and understanding about civic engagement, nonprofit work (including the Voter Activation Network) are plusses but are not requirements.
