A competitive statewide campaign in Minnesota is seeking a communications director to join our team. The Communications Director will be an advisor on and coordinate positioning/messaging, communications and social media strategy, and be very involved in setting overall campaign strategy. Applicants should have a passion for progressive politics, and the ability to work cohesively as a part of a team.

Duties

• Lead social media program

• Cultivate and maintain relationships with political media (newspapers, blogs, etc.) and reporters throughout the state

• Lead rapid response team

• Help analyze and counter opponent messaging and media strategy

• Write press releases, op-eds, letters-to-the-editor, memos to the press, etc.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

• At least two cycles of experience in political communication

• Experience on statewide campaigns preferred

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Demonstrated experience and success working with media

• Track record of creativity, initiative, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced, demanding and stressful environment with standard campaign hours

• Some knowledge of Minnesota politics
