JOB SUMMARY
Progressive organizing hub For Our Future Wisconsin seeks a full-time Regional Director to manage our paid canvass program in one of three targeted regions. You will be responsible for managing the day to day operations of a team of canvass coordinators. Responsibilities will include managing a regional team, running quality control on program in your area, ensuring a strong hiring pipeline, coordinating with other departments to ensure your team has the supplies they need to successfully run their program, and other duties as assigned. This position may require frequent travel throughout your assigned region.
This is a full-time, project-based position through April 9, 2021.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
● Training and managing canvass coordinators and canvassers to execute a canvassing program.
● Implementing and monitoring systems to ensure regionally assigned metrics are met or exceeded and ensuring all reporting is up-to-date.
● Implementing and monitoring systems to ensure reporting is accurate and on time.
● Hold weekly coaching conversations with canvass coordinators to ensure effective canvass launches.
● Positively representing the organization at virtual and in-person community events and meetings.
● Assisting in the hiring process to meet staffing needs for the canvass program. Ensure that all health and safety protocols and procedures are met.
● Ensuring that a weekly canvassing schedule is created and implemented.
● Other duties, as assigned.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
● At least two cycles of competitive campaign organizing experience.
● At least one cycle of experience managing a team and hitting competitive field goals, experience with digital organizing, coalition building, or communications is a plus.
● Flexibility and readiness to adapt and change responsibilities and programming quickly as conditions change.
● Familiarity with the Wisconsin progressive landscape; localized knowledge preferred.
● Knowledge and understanding of scaling voter contact programs and best practices for high quality voter contact that meets metric-based goals.
● Ability to work long and irregular hours in a fast-paced, metrics-driven work environment.
● Must have computer literacy; access to a reliable laptop is ideal.
● Ability to meet deadlines under pressure while handling multiple projects.
● Experience in supporting media and communications programming, preferred.
● Bilingual experience is a plus, but not required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
● Door-to-door canvassing, in-person management, and training is considered an essential function of this job. As long as it is possible to safely and appropriately conduct door-to-door canvassing, it will be a high priority. Employees will be provided with health and safety training, and personal protective equipment (PPE). Employees may be required to work in extreme weather conditions, including rain, heat, and cold. This position is expected to interact regularly face-to-face with voters, volunteers or community partners. Because of COVID-19, state and local government stay at home orders, phased reopening orders, and other factors may sometimes limit For Our Future’s canvassing program. When these limits apply, your work environment will likely be your domicile (teleworking) or a socially-distanced office.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
● Normal hours of business are from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM Monday thru Friday, however employees will be required to work outside of normal business hours including weekends and nights.
● Employees may be required to abide by certain blackout dates during a campaign cycle, and generally not allowed to take more than 2-3 days off consecutively during blackout periods. Emergencies are not affected by this policy.
