Communications Director:
Democratic countywide campaign in Nassau County, NY (Long Island) seeks a Communications Director to help oversee communications strategy, messaging, rapid response, digital strategy, and tracking. The Communications Director will work closely with the Campaign Manager and a consultant team.
Start Date: ASAP
Responsibilities Include:
· Overseeing campaign communications plan
· Serving as an on-the-record spokesperson for the campaign and maintaining relationships with the media
· Handling media requests for the candidate and campaign
· Building press conferences for the campaign and drafting press advisories and releases
· Working with the campaign’s research team on opposition strategy and rapid response
· Crafting campaign emails for messaging and fundraising purposes
· Managing the campaign’s tracking program
· Working with the digital team on social media and online communications strategy
Qualifications:
· 2-3 years of experience in political communications
· Experience as an on-the-record spokesperson
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Strong organizational skills
· Strong work ethic with the ability to work and multitask in a fast-paced environment
· Candidates must have a car, car insurance, and a driver’s license
· Ideal candidates would be familiar with Long Island and Long Island politics as well as its media landscape
