The Tennessee Justice Center, a non-profit law firm, is seeking a full-time entry-level community outreach coordinator in its Nashville office. The community outreach coordinator will help community leaders educate and engage others on Insure Tennessee (the Governor’s plan to ensure that all Tennesseans have access to health care coverage) and its importance for our state.
The goal of this position is to support the grassroots movement around Insure Tennessee by working with existing coalitions to help move them forward, as well as creating new coalitions. The staff member will be responsible for tracking data from across the state, educating and engaging community members, and helping build a strategic plan for passing Insure Tennessee.
Essential Job Functions:
· Engage, educate, organize, train, and empower community members to take action on Insure Tennessee.
· Work with community partners to create meaningful collaborations.
· Communicate and build relationships with diverse communities and leaders from various political backgrounds.
· Develop materials and talking points for specific groups, cities, and organizations.
· Complete timely data entry.
· Manage many tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Requirements:
· Passion for ensuring all Tennesseans gain access to health care coverage.
· 2 years relevant experience working with community engagement.
· Strong social, communication, and listening skills.
· Comfortable speaking to and interacting with the public, and developing new relationships.
· Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and good attitude.
· Ability to work well with a team.
· Organized and able to work under deadlines.
· Access to reliable transportation (transportation is reimbursed by employer).
· Able and willing to work up to 50-60 hours a week during the busy season (overtime is compensated).
