Donor Development Strategies is hiring a Canvass Director for our Iowa Public Television (IPTV) fundraising office in Des Moines, IA!

Canvass Directors are responsible for the day to day operations of their offices, for providing our partner stations with the staffing and fundraising levels they have budgeted and for managing the priorities of a rapidly growing company.

Donor Development Strategies partners with Public Media stations to bolster their donor portfolios and increase the scope of their marketing. We currently have teams of organizers in 11 different cities in the United States who are committed to engaging with people face to face in order to spread the mission of our partner stations. We dramatically change the fundraising landscape for public media outlets and have raised over $13 million nationwide, with millions more to come.

We believe in the power of people. It takes an entire community of members to make public media possible, it takes a dedicated team of organizers to inspire that community and it takes strong leadership to develop those organizers. As a canvass director, we will train you to become an industry leader and authority on nonprofit fundraising at the grassroots level. You will learn how to build a team, how to work with high profile clients and how to manage your own project.

This is an opportunity to make a dramatic impact on one of America's oldest and largest non-profits. We encourage our directors to build strong relationships directly with the local station and develop their own voices within our company.

As we grow, we want to hire those hungry to be a part of our evolution. Are you the compelling leader we are looking for?

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Field Work: Canvass 1-3 times a week. Perform regular check-ins with staff members. Provide in-field training for new staff, core staff and field managers. Staff training never stops.

  • Office Culture: Create a positive and goal oriented culture in the office. Set expectations, manage performance of staff and develop a strong leadership team. Our year round campaign is an opportunity to invest in long-term staff development.
  • Client Communication: Provide clear, concise and professional context on day-to-day operations. Assist in maintaining a strong and open partnership with the station.
  • Administration: Track income and expenses. Collect and analyze data as it relates to daily and weekly operations. Ensure the maintenance, management, and security of donor and organizational data. Administer roll-out of technological updates.
  • Staff Management: Build a team in which everyone is at their best. Identify and develop leaders from within your existing staff. Develop and implement effective training programs. Ensure staff are meeting expectations and always serving as strong brand ambassadors for the station.
