Targeted Austin Area State House Race Seeks Field Director
A competitive, red-to-blue legislative race in Austin, TX area is seeking a talented and hard-working Field Director to manage an ambitious grassroots program. With a Trump +1 margin, a retiring Republican incumbent, and rapidly changing demographics, this open seat will be one of the most closely watched races in the state. Applicants have the opportunity to help create a program that can become the model for Democratic success in Texas.
The Field Director will:
Hire, train, and supervise a team of Organizers
Scout out Organizing talent from in and out of state and conduct interviews
Train Organizers in effective DVC and volunteer recruitment strategies
Plan and track hired Organizers’ goals to meet weekly, monthly, and phase goals
Foster an inclusive, team-oriented culture
Manage a robust direct voter contact program
Create and refine DVC universes for each phase of the campaign that match topline campaign goals
Ensure the campaign is meeting DVC phase goals, including tier penetration
Create a massive, goal-driven volunteer program
Define programmatic goals for volunteer and team leader recruitment
Oversee Organizers’ execution of volunteer recruitment and track progress to goal
The ideal applicant will have:
2-3 cycles of campaign experience, with a strong preference for at least one cycle in a management position
a head for numbers and a heart for people
an ability to create and sustain a “happy-warrior” culture--fun, dedicated, and hard-working
a strong training background
a scrappy attitude and no-excuses personality
meticulous attention to detail
a demonstrated commitment to Democratic principles and ideals
