Project Associate - Big Bowl of Ideas - Los Angeles, CA or Washington, DC

Do you like the intersection of art, popular culture and progressive politics? Then, this could be the gig for you. Big Bowl of Ideas is hiring Project Associates to do work in the space of creative thinking, creative production, and creative organizing for its client base of progressive non-profits, labor unions, artists, and cultural institutions between now and December 2015. 

 

Project Associates work typically involves being a liaison with BBOI clients specifically in the areas of creative professional research, frontline social media work, community partner organizing, production coordination, cultural art project management, mid-level administrative tasks, entry-level idea generation.  

Project Associates will typically work 15 – 20 hours a week, and receive compensation with a range of $18 – 25/hour depending on specific skills and experiences.

 

Requirements:

3-4 years experience in communications, administrative, organizing, or cultural production work (some combo of these even better)

1)   Must live in Los Angeles, (preferably in downtown or Eastside) or Washington, DC (in the District)

2)   Strong writing, business correspondence and analytical skills (samples helpful)

3)   Solid political judgement; knowledge of social and economic justice issues

4)   Voracious consumer and critic of arts, entertainment and pop culture

5)   Work is largely done remotely in Los Angeles or Washington, DC, so requires ownership of good and fast hardware with webcam and software (Microsoft Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Dropbox, and some sort of design software)

6)   Must be very proactive, detailed, and a bit of a project tracking geek

7)   Effective working without super rigid structure and supervision
