Democratic candidate for Montgomery County Executive is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Field Organizer. The Field Organizer position is a limited duration assignment, with a targeted start date of January 3rd and an end date of July 2nd (one week after the Primary). Compensation is based on experience. Benefits include healthcare to full time employees.
Job Responsibilities
The Field Organizer's will work to accomplish the following objectives:
- Turn out Democratic voters in Montgomery County by running an aggressive Get Out The Vote (GOTV) program.
- Creating and developing a grassroots organization in the county.
- Representing the campaign on the ground level.
- Building and deploying a volunteer base, by (1) recruiting, motivating, and managing volunteers for canvassing, phone-banking, and data entry, and (2) working (either directly or through volunteers/interns) to ensure that our volunteer databases are organized and kept up-to-date;
- Organizing phone banks and canvasses, ensuring that all get-out-the vote contact goals are met;
- Supervising and training interns;
- Other duties as assigned.
Applicants should expect to work long hours, including nights and weekends, and have access to reliable transportation.
Qualifications
Successful applicants will demonstrate the following qualifications:
- Previous experience as an organizer or campaign staffer is encouraged;
- Strong time-management skills and work ethic;
- Ability to motivate volunteers to reach goals;
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills;
- Ability to spend long hours on the phone and canvassing;
- Ability to adapt quickly and accomplish goals as set forth by the campaign;
- Results-oriented, dependable, and proactive;
- Working knowledge of local politics and strong relationships with community members.
