 Bilingual Union Organizer & Organizer in Training 

 

Oakland, CA and San Francisco, CA

 

 Fluency in English/Cantonese or English/Russian is required

 

 

ABOUT ULTCW: SEIU ULTCW fights for respect, dignity and improved working conditions for workers on the frontlines of delivering compassionate and quality care to patients and clients in nursing and home care settings.  We are looking for talented and committed individuals to fill union organizing positions in Oakland and San Francisco, CA.

 

Responsibilities:  SEIU ULTCW  Union Organizers and Organizers in Training help workers form, build and grow their Union; assist workers to negotiate and enforce their contracts; mobilize workers around worksite issues, politics, public policy, and other issues affecting the lives of workers; develop  leadership among workers; and carry out other ULTCW programs in the field. 

 

Required Skills, Abilities and Experience: 

  • Demonstrated commitment to working for social and economic justice.
  • Prior experience on labor organizing, community, campus, political and progressive issue advocacy campaigns is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills.
  • Strong planning and time management skills. 
  • Ability and willingness to work long, irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability and willingness to work in diverse settings and with diverse populations. 
  • Computer literacy on Windows-based computer programs.
  • Ability and willingness to travel, on an as needed basis, throughout California. 
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment. 
  • Proficiency in English/Cantonese or English/Russian is  required. 
  • Possession of a valid U.S. driver’s license, proof of auto insurance and an automobile to use for work purposes.
  • Candidates who have completed the SEIU Organizer in Training Program or other formal training programs for organizers are encouraged to apply.
  • Candidates who do not currently reside in Oakland or San Francisco  and who are offered a position must be willing to relocate.  ULTCW offers a relocation stipend.

 

Salary and Benefits:

 

ULTCW offers highly competitive starting salaries, car allowance, health benefits and pension plan.
