About Savi

Savi is a social impact technology start-up in DC that is working to solve the student debt crisis by helping the 41 million student loan borrowers better understand their debt, pick the best repayment option, and enroll. We're looking for people who have the desire to build things and the drive to do great work as part of a team.

 

What you will be doing

We have built a beta platform for pilot partners and are looking for a full-stack developer to lead our next phase of product development and build out our engineering team.


You will be building upon an existing web-based applications that was built in Laravel with a React front end, powered by a series of calculations written in Python. The ideal candidate would have familiarity or comfort to learn various APIs, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, PHP and git/Bitbucket. Being comfortable with AWS security and Apache server configurations for environments that require high levels of security is required or will need to be learned quickly.

 

While a v1 of the app is already built, there is still a lot of work that needs your experience, expertise, and creativity. We need to implement a custom, API-based CMS, MixPanel for testing and email automation, Zendesk for user support, among others. We are committed to the LAMP stack in particular and open source in general.

 

We are looking for passionate individuals who work well with others and are eager to contribute to the team.  We value learning, new ideas, and creative solutions. The deadlines are realistic and developers have a wide latitude to explore technologies and techniques.

Requirements

       5+ years experience working with the LAMP Stack (Linux, Apache ,MySQL, PHP/Python/Perl)

       Demonstrated experience building modern web applications using js/html5/css3 and a client-side MVC framework such as Angular, React, JQuery or similar.

       A bachelor's degree in CS, Information Science, or engineering is preferred

       Experience with Git repositories such as GitHub/BitBucket
