Location: Washington, DC

 

About Civic Nation

Civic Nation is a 501(c)(3), organized to promote sensible solutions to challenges in the areas of federal, state and local policy; to educate the public about such policies and about public policy issues arising in these areas; and, for related purposes.

 

Its program initiatives currently include the College Promise Campaign, outside partner components of the First Lady’s Reach Higher campaign, the newly announced Stand Stronger initiative, and will soon expand into additional policy areas.

 

Founded in 2015, Civic Nation is an exciting and growing bipartisan issues organization, operating like a political start-up with exciting partners and a growing team. We need someone to grow with us and in fact guide our growth.

Position Description

The National Digital Director ensures that Civic Nation leverages digital and technology best practices, partnerships with external partners, and grassroots activities to advance its mission. This senior-staff position oversees digital and technology strategy and execution across the organization’s operations, rolling-up his/her sleeves to deliver the necessary solutions to meet the short-term goals while building a roadmap for long-term success.

 

The Digital Director will manage external resources responsible for building and delivering campaign websites, products, and user communication, and be responsible for building an internal team of digital and/or technology specialists. The Digital Director is expected to own the digital channel for the organization, helping its senior leadership set goals, budgets, and expectations for how the department will help the organization achieve its mission. The Digital Director will need to work closely with other departments and external partners to ensure seamless integration and messaging across channels, and timely delivery of project milestones.

 

Our websites are currently developed by an external agency in Drupal and hosted by Acquia. The Director will assess and manage these relationships to ensure they deliver solutions and services needed in acceptable quality/cost/time deliverables that allow the organization to drive an aggressive outreach schedule.

 

Digital properties under the purview of the National Digital Director include several sites, some that have yet to launch: www.headsupamerica.us, www.collegepromise.org, www.civicnation.org, www.committocitizenship.org as well as others that will correspond with additional initiatives currently in planning phase.

 

The National Digital Director reports to the Executive Director.

 

Requirements for the position include:

·      Minimum of 4 years of work experience relevant to the requirements listed herein

  • Experience collaborating across an organization to develop and implement successful digital programs to accomplish an organizational mission.
  • Be comfortable discussing strategic planning with executive leadership and high-level external partners . Also discussing implementation specifics with internal and external partners, including being comfortable owning technology/development relationships and decision-making.
  • Effective business partner, collaborating and negotiating with internal and external partners to set and produce agreed upon outcomes.
  • Experience managing and training a digital team, as well as training non-digital stakeholders and partners.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills; ability to make the complex simple.
  • Ability to develop/adapt messaging and testing strategies for the digital medium.
  • Experience running SMS, email, and/or social media campaigns geared toward influencing audiences to take action both online and offline.
  • Experience with various CMS platforms, SMS services, and email platforms beneficial.
  • An open-minded approach to managing a dynamic organization.

 

Salary will be commensurate with experience. Civic Nation offers a competitive benefits package. The position is a full-time, exempt position based in Washington, DC.
