Position: Program Associate

 

Location: NYC preferred but location flexible

 

Status: Full Time, Exempt

 

Position Summary

The League is a social impact collective. We use culture to awaken and activate people’s power to address the urgent challenges facing our world today. We design and deploy creative and engaging strategies and campaigns in order to create tipping points that fundamentally shift communities to be more just and equitable. 

The League focuses on three lines of work. First, we run experiments to identify the best ways to use culture to shift people’s attitudes and move them to action. Experiments encompass a variety of areas, including rapid response tests, narrative campaigns, and in-person experiences and events. Second, we tap into sophisticated marketing, political, and cultural data, using it to unpack what’s currently happening in the world and to forecast what might happen. And third, we create spaces and connections so that people from a variety of experiences, backgrounds, and industries can work together to address the major issues facing our country today.

We are seeking someone enthusiastic and culture-savvy to serve as our Program Associate, preferably based in New York City. In this position, you will play a key role in ensuring smooth daily operations and will be part of exciting projects that use culture to inspire civic engagement. Through all of this work, you will help uncover what’s possible at the intersection of social change and culture.

Essential Responsibilities and Tasks 

     Executive Team Support

o   As a member of The League’s operations team, work collaboratively to manage the calendar, activity and speaking requests for the CEO.

o   Coordinate The League’s internal events including staff retreats and virtual meetings.

     Program Support

o   Provide event management support, from logistical planning to program development, for events--from briefings and strategy sessions to pop-ups at major concerts and festivals.

o   Conduct and support outreach to external partners.

o   Conduct cultural and political research and provide analysis to guide The League’s strategy on a variety of projects and programs.

o  Stay abreast of stories and trends in popular culture in order to inform organizational strategy.

o   Work with the team to brainstorm creative ideas and develop cultural engagement strategies on a variety of projects.

o   Support the creation of proposals, reports, newsletters, briefs, and other essential materials.

Required Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Ability 

     Independent, strong leader with 3+ years of experience, preferably working in or adjacent to social impact or a relevant field

     A demonstrated commitment to social, racial, and gender justice issues

     A track record of big picture thinking combined with the ability to execute and deliver results

     Exceptional written communication skills with a high level of emotional intelligence

     Must live and love culture, consuming it through multiple channels and approaching it with an analytical eye.

     Commitment to rigor and efficiency. 

Valued and Non-Essential Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Ability 

     Familiarity with the social justice, social impact, brand marketing, and other adjacent sectors
