Donald Trump is waging a war on truth, on decency, on our planet, and on working people. For the sake of everything we care about, we have to get him out of the White House in 2020.

#VoteTrumpOut, a project of RootsAction.org, is an independent campaign persuading disaffected progressive voters in swing states to vote Donald Trump out of office in the general election. The campaign is led by and aimed at Bernie Sanders supporters who might otherwise stay home or vote for a third party in November. Using targeted digital and organizing strategies, our goal is to create a consensus among swing state progressive voters that a) supporting Joe Biden in swing states is the only means we have to defeat Trump, b) that we have a moral responsibility to beat Trump, and c) that we’ll be ready on day one to hold a Biden administration accountable to the progressive change our communities need.

We are seeking a savvy, nimble, well-networked organizer to lead our relational organizing, partner engagement, and state-level communication strategy in Arizona.


Responsibilities

  •        Build relationships with prominent state-level progressive validators—both individuals and organizations—and work with them to amplify the #VTO campaign message in the Arizona progressive community
  •        Lead our state-level relational organizing drive using the best in class digital tools
  •        Recruit and train a team of #VTO volunteers to expand the scope of our relational organizing
  •        Write, pitch, and place editorial and other earned media pieces in support of the #VTO campaign
  •        Stay up to date on COVID-19 voting information and procedures in Arizona
  •        Identify and capitalize on opportunities to engage Arizona online progressive spaces, Facebook groups, etc. on the #VTO campaign


Qualifications

  •        Substantial experience working on progressive electoral and/or issue campaigns
  •        Strong networks in Arizona progressive movement circles, and a history of successful collaboration with a variety of in-state stakeholders
  •        Familiarity with the Arizona media landscape, press contacts a plus
  •        Excellent writing and editing skills, able to turn around punchy, powerful content on a short timeline
  •        Excellent political instincts, knows how to build trust and alignment across difference
  •        Entrepreneurial, adaptive, and ready to proactively seize opportunities
  •        Deep commitment to equity, inclusion, and saving our democracy from Donald Trump
