Location: Texas 23rd Congressional District
Position Summary:
The Texas Democratic Party is seeking a select number of community organizers to help make history by winning back the U.S. House of Representatives! 2016 will be a critical year for House Democrats, and Texas’s 23rd district is one of the most competitive house seats in the nation. This position focuses on mobilizing the latino community to vote, which will be a critical constituency this election cycle. Organizers will be responsible for recruiting, training, and managing volunteers, and will execute voter contact tactics such as phone banks, canvasses, voter registration drives, and visibility events. Organizers should be high energy, outgoing, and enthusiastic.
Field organizers will:
Work alongside grassroots leaders and campaign staff to organize a community
Be trained in field organizing, messaging, and other activities
Learn the political challenges and policy goals of the candidate
Talk to supporters and recruit new volunteers
Use social networks to help amplify our message (and get out the vote!)
Develop and execute a recruitment volunteer strategy
Train and develop a volunteer based voter contact team
Break out and monitor vote goals per county/city/precinct and insure that volunteers know each vote goal for every precinct in their region for each phase of the campaign.
Manage and motivate volunteers to hit big goals and run effective and innovative programs to win key precincts
Canvass and knock doors everyday
Create and run a phone bank
Qualifications and Requirements:
Organizational skills and ability to meet goals and strict deadlines;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Positions will be based in Texas
Frequent travel within Congressional district is required;
Commitment to electing Democrats;
High attention to detail
Spanish Fluency Preferred
