Progressive city council campaign seeks field director

Progressive challenger with competitive campaign in three-way city council race in the Tidewater area of Virginia is seeking a Field Director to work through Election Day the first week of May 2016.

 

The Field Director will be responsible for:

•         Working with current field consultant to develop field strategy for final phase of the campaign, including plan for targeted precincts and goals for field organizers
•       Overseeing all field organizers and head volunteer recruitment efforts
•       He/she will be in charge of ensuring a properly planned and executed Election Day field plan and successful GOTV weekend
•       Field Director will work closely with Campaign Manager and candidate, and should be able to help train organizers on VAN software

 

*Qualifications and Requirements:*

 

- Organizing experience preferred

- VAN proficiency
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence in ability to manage small staff
- Access to reliable vehicle and mobile phone
- Ability to work “campaign” hours for duration of campaign

- High attention to detail required

- Positions will be based in the Norfolk, VA area

- Local ties to Hampton Roads area preferred, but supporter housing may be provided for exceptional candidates
