The Press Secretary will work closely with the Communications Director and Rapid Response Director to manage Sunrise’s press work and help reach millions of people with our message.
This position requires some previous experience working with journalists and editors to shape media coverage. In 2020 that work centers on making climate change and the Green New Deal a top issue in both the primary and general elections, combatting right-wing efforts to discredit the Green New Deal, and helping the public understand how it would tangibly improve their lives.
To do so, they will identify opportunities for Sunrise to intervene in the media narrative and work with other Communications leadership to develop and refine Sunrise’s broader narrative strategy. They will work with other Press staff and contractors to generate press and media content for top news outlets, field national and international press requests, and develop spokespeople from across the country to tell compelling stories.
