Competitive Midwest Senate campaign is seeking a Field Director for the 2016 election. The Field Director will work in collaboration with other departments and will report directly to the Campaign Manager. This is a great opportunity for qualified candidates to gain valuable experience and have a front-row seat throughout a highly competitive Senate race. 


Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Primary responsibility for the field organization of a statewide political campaign. 
  • Build and manage a field team to execute a statewide field plan. 
  • Set, meet and exceed statewide benchmarks for voter contact, volunteer recruitment, grassroots engagement and GOTV. 
  • Design and standardize best practices for data management using the campaign’s voter file software. 
  • Collaborate with the senior staff to design and implement effective outreach programs that engage grassroots leaders statewide. 
  • Coordinate field organizing with the campaign’s political and fundraising operations. 
  • Strategically update and improve the campaign’s statewide and regional field plans to maximize results. 
  • Train and coach organizers to improve their professional skills. 
  • Communicate the campaign’s field strategy to volunteers through  presentations, social media, organizing meetings and training sessions statewide. 
  • Innovate new approaches to engage diverse constituencies and execute those approaches effectively. 
  • Manage the field program budget and logistics in collaboration with the Campaign Manager and Deputy Campaign Manager. 

Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:

  • At least two election cycles of field organizing experience. 
  • Deep understanding of targeting and metrics. 
  • Extensive experience managing and training high performing campaign staffers. 
  • Extensive experience with Votebuilder (VAN) or comparable voter file/ volunteer management software. 
  • Experience managing a geographically dispersed team. 
  • Campaign experience in the Midwest a plus.
