DIGITAL DIRECTOR
Organizational Overview
Commonwealth
Communications (Comms2) is a new organization that will serve as the communications and
digital hub of Pennsylvania’s progressive infrastructure. It officially
launched in January 2020 and will become more public facing in the coming
months. Comms2will write and produce
content for progressive organizations, coordinates communications with partner
and allied stakeholders, and monitors and develops strategies and tactics to
best navigate the ever-changing digital landscape. Comms2 was founded in 2020 with a mission to help shape the political
environment in Pennsylvania by centralizing institutional knowledge in a
dynamic communications organization. The organization will collaborate in
filling the needs of progressive partners’ campaigns throughout the
Commonwealth.
Position: Digital Director
The Digital Director is in charge of content production focused on digital organizing, media buys, ad placement, and has a working knowledge of social media platforms with an understanding of data analytics. The Digital Director will work to develop content with staff, outside vendors, and partner organizations for progressive infrastructure in Pennsylvania for ongoing electoral, accountability, and political campaigns.
The Digital Director will oversee a content production-focused staff that will create material that can be tested and analyzed on relevant social channels to recommend best practices. They will work with organizations of all sizes to identify digital needs and add capacity to their existing campaigns through Commonwealth Communications (Comms2).
Responsibilities

Develop and manage paid message
testing across social media platforms to disseminate data points and best
practices for progressive organizations. The Digital Director should have
experience in all aspects of digital organizing, including digital media buys,
targeting, and analyzing ad performance.

Draft and execute social media
content and strategy for Comms2. The Digital Director oversees a
team of content producers or outside vendors tasked with integrating digital
campaigns into ongoing and existing political and accountability campaigns.
● Identify, recommend, and implement new digital media strategies demonstrating an understanding of the fluid nature of digital communications and platforms. The Digital Director should have an extensive understanding of all current and most used platforms in political advertising.
● Ability to work with a wide variety of progressive organizations to add digital capacity to their existing campaigns identifying opportunities and overseeing implementation. The Digital Director should understand data analytics and social listening tools to assist the progressive movement in Pennsylvania as needed.
Qualifications

Experience with digital
advertising platforms, including experience in placing and analyzing digital ad
performance. The Digital Director will conduct or assist message testing across
social media platforms to provide recommendations for digital campaigns.
● Demonstrated ability to create content or oversee outside vendors charged with content creation to help the progressive movement of Pennsylvania. The Digital Director will be skilled in digital writing, video production, and social media best practices.
Previous Experience and Job Expectations
●
A minimum of 4 to 7 years
demonstrating continued success working within the progressive community,
ideally with Digital Director experience managing a digital team.
● Direct experience developing content, digitally organizing, using social media platforms, and assessing digital data analytics.
●
Commitment to inclusive
leadership, including working within diverse coalitions to achieve pragmatic
goals. Relationship-driven with a focus on organizational and individual
relationships.
● Working for progressive organizations in previous capacities, including but not limited to organizing, field, communications, political, or progressive policy.
Salary is commensurate with experience. The range is between $70,000 - $90,000. Benefits include health care coverage.
