Yes on 1631 is mounting an ambitious statewide ballot initiative to invest in clean energy like wind and solar, healthy forests, and clean water with a pollution fee paid by the state’s largest corporate polluters. When we are successful in November, this will be an unprecedented step toward protecting our communities’ health, creating thousands of local jobs in communities across the state while cutting pollution, and investing in clean energy infrastructure, healthy forests, and clean air and water.
Communications Director
Yes on 1631 is looking for a hardworking, passionate, organized, creative, and experienced communications professional to implement the campaign’s communication strategy. Ideal candidates will have strong project management and strategic messaging skills, and experience working on a statewide or competitive regional electoral campaign. In addition, ideal candidates should have knowledge of equivalent local and national issues and campaigns.
The Communications Director will report to the Campaign Director and will work closely with campaign stakeholders and our coalition of partners representing working families, communities of color, environmental and clean energy advocates, health professionals, businesses, and faith organizations.

Location: Seattle, WA
Salary and Benefits: The salary is $5,000 to $6,000 per month depending on experience. Benefits include healthcare, mileage reimbursement and paid sick and safe time.
Term of Service: This position is term limited through the end of November following the general election and will require significant evening and weekend work time and statewide travel will be required.
Responsibilities
• Serve as key spokesperson and coordinate messengers when communicating with the media
• Build relationships with the press
• Manage and execute the campaign message
• Execute winning campaign messages and instill message discipline with campaign staff and coalition partners
• Train campaign staff, coalition partners, and speaker bureau volunteers on best messages
• Draft and keep core campaign literature updated for use with funders, volunteers and general public
• Set up editorial board interviews and earned media opportunities.
• Manage successful social media presence
• Create copy for campaign web site, email and social media platforms.
• Manage advertising on social media
• Work with finance staff to manage the digital media firm’s email and list building campaign
• Manage a coalition partner “communications table” to maximize support from partners and prioritize weekly communications needs
• Manage other communications needs as directed by Campaign Director
• Manage a robust digital communications strategy to grow the campaign’s list, fundraise and support the field program
