Position Description
America Votes is seeking a talented leader and organizer with a record of success managing electoral and issue campaigns to serve as the Deputy Field Director. The Deputy Field Director will work directly with the National Field Direct to support and manage the America Votes state table network. The Deputy Field Director will have a role in managing the creation of and implementation of AV’s electoral and issue campaigns as well as special projects. The Deputy Field Director will provide director support to the National field director and state staff as well as other departments as necessary.
The Deputy Field Director reports directly to the National Field Director.

This position is based in Washington DC.
Responsibilities
4 Work with the National Field Director to foster the growth, sustainability and effectiveness of existing and emerging state tables including the management of state work and state teams.
4 Maintain an ongoing knowledge of state table operations and programs that includes current cross-state products that deliver state intelligence and plans to a national political audience.
4 Provide direct guidance, support, and oversight to state table directors in constructing of campaign plans including the drafting of the field budgets, work plans and overall timeline.
4 Works with department and other appropriate staff to develop year round work plans and regular reporting mechanisms for assigned field staff.
4 Identify opportunities for cross-state learning among state table directors on best practices.
4 Work with the National Field Director to develop, maintain and update resources for the states.
4 Work with the National Field Director to identify and maintain a suite of professional development and training opportunities for state table directors, state table staff and state table partners.
4 Lead the development and implementation of special projects as assigned.
4 Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
4 At least 6 – 8 years of campaign experience and 4 years of campaign management with at least 4 years executing program in a state.
4 Demonstrated ability to exercise excellent political judgment and discretion.
4 Experience with electoral plan writing, targeting, modeling, management of field programs, management of senior staff.
4 Ability to travel.
4 Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
4 Excellent with Microsoft Excel or other data management and presentation systems.
4 Knowledge of progressive organizations and their operations a plus.
4 Knowledge and interest in redistricting a plus.
4 Ability to work with leaders, members, and staff at all levels of the organization.
4 Ability to manage multiple tasks in a rapid paced environment.
4 Demonstrated ability in managing and leading coalitions with multi-issue agendas.
4 Work well with people from diverse backgrounds.
4 Excellent listening, interpersonal, communication, time-management, and problem solving skills.
4 Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts while maintaining important and effective relationships.
4 Experience with IE campaigns and VAN a plus.
4 Experience and interest in redistricting a plus.
4 Experience with program and organizational assessments a plus.
4 Strong writing, copy-editing, and material presentation skills a plus.
