Purpose:
The Manager, Data Processing is responsible for leading the system administration, analysis, development, testing, tuning, support and documentation of all Membership database applications.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Be proactive towards improving applications and support for SEIU Programs;
• Take leadership role on projects;
• Leads the work of the associated with database applications,
including .Net applications;
• Makes significant contributions to the strategic plans for
SEIU’s database programs in support of SEIU campaigns, and
to further the union’s policy and growth objectives;
• Coordinates and leads efforts with the team necessary to
Develop SQL and VBScript code ;
• Leads and coordinates with the teams efforts necessary to
Develop ETL code along with using ETL tools such as Microsoft
SSIS;
• Develop reports using Microsoft SSRS;
• Assists the department Deputy Director in the development of
work plans and strategy for achieving the union’s growth and issue campaign goals;
• Acts as the lead for the team and coordinates efforts in support
of Administration of database Security, Server Objects, Management, and Server Agent ;
• Coordinates department work with other departments/division as
needed; advocates for department priorities in cross-departmental
efforts;
• Serves as a primary coordinator with other staff and SEIU contacts both inside and outside of the union as assigned. Performs other duties
as required to support the department and its mission.
Contacts:
Include SEIU and affiliate staff and other experts on database
analysis and programming issues.
Direction and Decision Making
This position reports to the Deputy Director or designee.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor of Arts or Science degree in computer science or
programming or related field; seven (7) to ten (10) years of
experience in programming development and administration on
a Microsoft SQL Server platform including extensive independent
experience using SQL Server Management Studio and SQL Server
Business Intelligence Development Studio; seven (7) to ten (10)
years of experience system administration experience including all
database administration functions with emphasis on performance
monitoring and tuning; Master’s degree in a relevant technical field preferred.
Or, a combination of education and experience that would provide
for the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
• Thorough knowledge of programming development and
administration.
• Knowledge of unions or similar nonprofit and their issues.
• Ability to conduct high level data analysis.
• Ability to use personal computer, including spreadsheets,
databases and on-line research services.
• Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
• Ability to conduct formal research, analyze data and make sound,
logical conclusions.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Detail orientation with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to make formal presentations and write advocacy papers.
• Ability to handle multiple priority projects simultaneously and meet established timelines.
• Ability to manage time effectively while maintaining a high level of productivity.
• Advanced skills in the use of personal computers for purposes of
financial and data analysis.
• Advanced skills in the use of spreadsheets, database management
systems, presentation software and on-line information sources.
• Thorough knowledge on the Security, Server Objects,
Management, and SQL Server Agent components of Microsoft SQL
Server Management Studio.
• Thorough knowledge of application monitoring and tuning abilities using tools such as Microsoft SQL Server Profiler and Database Engine
Tuning Advisor.
• Thorough knowledge on ETL tools and ETL code development.
• Thorough knowledge on developing net applications.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Visual Source Safe.
• Strong skills developing VB.Net and VBScript code.
Physical Requirements:
Work is generally performed in an office setting. Long and extended hours and travel required.
