Western public lands group seeks Research Director to aid Trump adminsitration accountability campaign

Western Values Project, a project of the New Venture Fund, seeks a Research Director to manage research for its campaigns to protect access to public lands. 

 

The Research Director will be an integral member of the project’s core team. The position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to think strategically, incredible attention to detail, and strong multi-tasking and organizational skills. A flexible personality, sense of humor, and positive attitude are also essential.

 

This position is based in Washington, D.C. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Essential Responsibilities and Tasks

• Develop short and long-term research plans for campaigns and lead implementation of those plans;
• Provide leadership, feedback, guidance and day-to-day supervision of research staff;
• Synthesize research produced by staff or consultants, and write and/or oversee development of detailed research reports.
• Work with campaign and communications teams on messaging materials;
• Perform other duties, as assigned. 

Required Experience, Knowledge, and Skills

• 6-8 years of experience conducting research in non-profit, campaign or similar setting;
• Deep knowledge of research databases and tools;
• Experience working with media and communications staff preferred;
• Ability to collaborate well with colleagues working at a distance;
• Sense of humor and ability to work quickly;
• Passionate about keeping public lands in public hands.
