Red Horse Strategies is a Brooklyn-based progressive political consulting firm, and we are seeking a Communications Associate to assist in the development and implementation of innovative public relations campaigns for political candidates and offices, non-profit organizations, and advocacy groups.

Candidates should have strong communications skills, a demonstrated interest in government and politics, and a capacity for analysis and research. The ability to write well and distill complex policies and ideas into concise, engaging copy is required. Must be willing to work nights and weekends, as needed. Creativity and a sense of humor a plus.

The Role:

●      Assist Communications staff and senior staff in implementing client press strategies

●      Draft press releases, quotes, and related content for press and media use

●      Pitch stories for placement

●      Organize and manage press events

●      Develop and maintain relationships with reporters

●      Assist in development of digital media content

●      Draft direct mail copy, speeches, op-eds and other written materials

●      Assist with other projects as needed

Skills and Experience:

●      Clear, concise, and engaging writing style

●      Ability to execute quality work under tight deadlines with little oversight

●      Strong project-management and time-management skills

Position Type: Full-time
