Field Director in Virginia House Race


Helmer for Virginia is looking to hire a talented and motivated Field Director ready to hustle. This District was lost by only 99 votes in 2017, will be a DLCC Spotlight race, and is one of the top red-to-blue flip targets in Virginia this cycle. The successful candidate will have experience organizing in the grassroots space, will help design and implement the field plan, and will oversee a sizable budget and staff. A commitment is required from April through November. Competitive salary and benefits.


Responsibilities:

● Manage and coach a team of organizers to recruit, train and manage volunteers; hold organizers accountable to goals

● Develop and execute a field plan in coordination with the Campaign Manager

● Build and maintain political relationships with local party, community and grasstop leaders; leverage volunteer capacity from local partner groups

● Consistently meet daily and weekly metric goals

● Ensure daily data entry and QC

● Build a strong and supportive team culture

● Execute digital organizing


Skills & Qualifications:

● At least 1-2 cycles of organizing experience

● Strong interpersonal skills, a commitment to equality and diversity, and a commitment to help others grow professionally

● Goal-oriented and data-focused

● Knowledge of the progressive grassroots space

● Ability to meet tight deadlines and to adapt quickly under pressure

● Good working knowledge of campaign technology platforms including VAN/Votebuilder, NGP, Google Docs/Excel, Hustle, Mobilize America, and others

● Familiarity with digital organizing and related platforms

● Ability to work long and irregular hours in a fast-paced, metrics-driven, work environment

● Ability to relocate if necessary

● Access to a car and computer
