Campaign Coordinator/Manager Job Description: Campaign Coordinator/Manager for a progressive incumbent representing Texas House District 45 (Hays and Blanco Counties). Dependent upon previous experience and skills the applicant may be considered for either a Campaign Coordinator position, which would be the only full-time position through the March primary, or a permanent Campaign Manager position. If hired at the Campaign Coordinator level, after the primary the position will either be elevated to Campaign Manager or transitioned to another full-time position, depending on performance. If hired at the Campaign Manager level, the position will be consistent through the general election in November.
Location: Applicant must be able to travel throughout Hays and Blanco Counties, as well as to the Austin area occasionally.
Responsibilities: The Campaign Coordinator/Manager will lead the candidate’s campaign team overseeing, but not limited to, the following:
● Formulating, managing, and executing a campaign plan.
● Coordinating the day-to-day operations of the campaign.
● Creating and monitoring the campaign’s use of social media in order to maximize impact and reach.
● Defining roles and negotiating contracts with vendors, consultants, and staff.
● Assisting the coordination and implementation of all fundraising operations.
● The creation and implementation of the campaign budget.
● The hiring and management of campaign staff.
● Maintaining and fostering relationships with constituents and stakeholders.
● Other duties as assigned.
● Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
● Proficient in Google Suite.
● Ability to learn new technological platforms. (We currently use Wix, Microsoft Office, Google Suite,
VAN, Slack, NGP, Adobe Suite, Canva, Mailchimp, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Tweetdeck.)
● Strong written communication skills.
● Excellent attention to details and highly organized.
● Strong time management skills and ability to manage shifting priorities.
● Ability to problem solve.
● Willingness to learn and ask questions.
● Ability to work both alone and as a member of a team.
● Reliable transportation.
● Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
● Demonstrated commitment to progressive politics.
Preferred Qualifications: ( Applicants at the campaign manager level should have at least half of these.)
● 2+ cycles of campaign management experience.
● Experience managing staff.
● Experience working with candidates and/or officeholders one-on-one and prioritizing their time.
● Proven record in coalition building, grassroots, or field campaign organizing.
● Existing relationships with advocacy groups and members of the Texas Democratic Coalition.
● Knowledge of NGP and VAN.
● Working knowledge of state campaign and ethics finance law.
● Strong oral communication skills.
● Knowledge of House District 45.
● Knowledge of state-level politics in Texas.
● Living currently or previously in House District 45.
● Spanish fluency.
● Graphic design skills.
● Professional writing background.
● Experience using Wix.
● Experience with public relations and social media.
● Experience with email campaigns.
Digital fundraising experience.
Compensation: This is a salaried position. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
