Fight For $15 Campaign in Las Vegas is seeking a lead organizer for low-wage worker organizing campaigns. This is an exciting opportunity to work for an innovative campaign that is empowering workers in Las Vegas to take on corporate & political stakeholders to fight for respect and a living wage. Candidates must have the ability to adapt in a rapidly changing campaign atmosphere. Candidates must have a strong work ethic and the ability to perform successfully in a competitive team atmosphere.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

*Primary responsibility is to recruit, train, develop, and lead a team of organizers focused on mobilizing workers in the Las Vegas area around the Fight for $15;

*Help develop strategy for and run field campaigns to advance organizational goals of reducing income inequality and creating good jobs.  This includes taking on/working with political, corporate and community stakeholders;

*Work with organizers to build worksite committees united to take on positive actions to fight for good jobs and better communities;

*Assist in outreach to elected leaders & community organizations to support campaigns;

*Coordinate and implement large-scale actions and events in support of organizational goals;

*Coordinate and direct organizing staff including scheduling, assigning turf, debriefing, and training.

*Oversee management of the campaign data base, list, and cards.

 

Other Requirements and Desired Skills for the Position Include:

 

* 2-4 Years in labor/community organizing experience;

*Bilingual Spanish/ English speaking capability is required;

*Ability to engage and inspire people regardless of religion, race, gender, sexual orientation, age, language, class and/or experiences is required;

*Must be flexible and willing to work early morning, evening, and weekend hours;

*Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license, auto insurance and a reliable automobile for business use.

*Experienced in running a team of organizers

*Good communication skills

 

Salary is commensurate with experience and reimbursement for driving expenses is offered. Health benefits offered after 30 days.
