Advocacy, Senior Manager, Pancreatic Cancer Action Network
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Advocacy, Senior Manager is responsible for working with the
Associate Director, Advocacy to identify, develop, and manage opportunities for
growing the organization’s grassroots network and mobilizing volunteers to
advance the organization’s legislative priorities on Capitol Hill. This
includes the creation and implementation of grassroots Advocacy campaigns,
volunteer and grassroots tools and resources, timely Advocacy communications
(internal and external), maintaining the Advocacy section of PanCAN’s website and
training for staff and volunteers. The
Senior Manager, Advocacy will continuously measure and track the organization’s
Advocacy campaigns and program. In addition, this role advises leadership of
necessary shifts in strategy or innovative approaches to grassroots campaigns to
achieve desired outcomes and deepen constituent engagement with the
organization. Additionally, a core function of this position is to support
National Pancreatic Cancer Advocacy Day in Washington, DC.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Work with Associate Director, Advocacy to advance the
organization’s legislative agenda, as set by the President and CEO and
senior leaders, to develop strategies that expand our grassroots network,
and keep current advocates engaged in the organization.
- Identify
key congressional districts that are priority offices for PanCAN’s legislative issues
and strategically build relationships between those offices and volunteer advocates.
- Develop
and track key metrics and develop reports as needed for each advocacy campaign
and initiative that measures overall effectiveness of Advocacy program.
- Maintain current grassroots database and provide
analysis of Advocacy volunteers and opportunities to strengthen the network to
achieve goals.
- Assist the Associate Director, Advocacy and
Community Engagement team to evaluate Advocacy program on a regular basis.
- Work
with Associate Director, Advocacy to plan and implement the annual Advocacy Day
program including responsibility for working with consultant to ensure the
scheduling of congressional meetings and the entire registration process.
- Draft
written correspondence to members of Congress including organizational letters
and targeted talking points for volunteers to use in congressional meetings.
- Draft emails, action alerts, social
media copy and other communications as needed to PanCAN constituents and targeted
audiences to achieve expected results.
- Monitor the department’s advocacy materials on PanCAN’s
website to ensure content is current and engaging and work with Associate
Director, Advocacy and Marketing and Communications team to update content.
- Execute grassroots Advocacy campaigns including the
production and management of issue Advocacy program content including but not
limited to the following resources:
Advocacy Calendar, Congressional Updates, Campaign Toolkits, and
Advocacy Field Guide.
- Manage the development of all campaign and
role-specific training for staff and volunteers.
- Work in conjunction with Community Engagement staff
to develop compelling content to activate Advocacy Leaders for high-touch
outreach to congressional staff contacts and coordinating the activities when
necessary
- Track
and compile department’s Lobbying Reports on a quarterly basis to ensure
accuracy.
