Tom for Congress - Finance Director


The Tom Wells campaign for Congress in FL-03 is seeking a creative and innovative Finance Director to help raise the revenue needed to strengthen our core operation and flip this open seat from Red to Blue.  Directly reporting to the Campaign Manager, the Finance Director will oversee and develop general finance strategy; manage and schedule call time and necessary follow ups; assist in drafting fundraising emails and digital content; plan, promote, and coordinate virtual fundraising events; manage donor relationships; and serve as FEC compliance coordinator.


The ideal candidate will have experience in all facets of campaign finance operations, including call time management, small and high dollar event planning, donor research, online fundraising, budget management, and legal compliance. 


Responsibilities Include: 

  • Draft, in collaboration with campaign leadership, a finance plan for the campaign to include major endorsements, individual donors, events, and both digital and email fundraising avenues.

  • Manage and grow Dani for Illinois Finance Committee made up of high dollar donors and other stakeholders.

  • Plan, coordinate and execute fundraising events as outlined in Finance Plan.

  • Coordinate with campaign leadership to raise online contributions through innovative direct email solicitations, social media posts, and digital ads.

  • Raise funds through consistent personal call time and prepare and staff candidate during call time. 

  • Manage donor databases, conduct research on current and potential contributors, and prospect for new donors.

  • Coordinate with Campaign Manager to monitor compliance and appropriately solicit, track, and report campaign finance contributions and expenditures. 

  • Conduct accurate and timely donor follow up and acknowledgement. 

  • Other duties as assigned. 


Desired Qualifications: 

  • 2+ cycles of campaign finance experience - previous statewide or Congressional campaign experience preferred.

  • Excellent personal skills with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships. 

  • Event planning and management experience.

  • Detail oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced office environment.

  • Demonstrated commitment to accountability, measuring outcomes, and a results-oriented culture. 

  • Superior project management skills. Know how to plan a project or program, track progress, and adjust resources as needed. 

  • Fundraising prowess, including experience with online fundraising and creative digital fundraising strategy. 


Commitment

This is a part-time, unpaid position seeking a commitment of 15-20 hours per week, starting as soon as possible through at least August 18, 2020 with the option to extend if we win the Primary.
