Position Overview

Victory Institute works to increase the number of LGBTQ people in public office and to provide programming, services and other support to help ensure their success. At Victory Institute, you'll get the opportunity to join the pipeline of LGBTQ leaders like U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin, Wisconsin, U.S. Representative Jared Polis, Colorado, Former Houston Mayor (and our new President & CEO) Annise Parker, Mayor Robert Garcia of Long Beach, CA, and many others in our greater Victory family. This is a full-time, paid opportunity in the heart of Washington. 


The Leadership Programs Intern will support the work of the following Victory Institute Leadership Programs:

  • Victory Congressional Internship
    The Congressional Internship brings outstanding LGBTQ college students to Washington, D.C., each semester for an intensive leadership program, including a congressional internship and a structured curriculum to learn about the legislative process and careers in the policy-making process. The intern will help coordinate logistical aspects of this program.
  • International LGBTQ Leadership Conference
    Each year the conference brings together hundreds of LGBTQ officials and other policy makers and offers a unique leadership development and networking experience. The intern will assist in many of the logistical aspects of the conference.
  • International Program
    The Institute is partnering with organizations abroad to provide training for openly LGBTQ leaders who want to run for office. The intern will assist in many of the logistical aspects of these trainings.
  • Other duties as necessary.

Qualifications

 The intern should demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, creative thinking and independent project management. Solid grasp of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is necessary.

 The internship requires a creative thinker who enjoys the challenge of organizing information in a concise and understandable manner and can find solutions to problems as they arise.

 Competency in a foreign language is a plus, but is not required.

 Full-time candidates preferred.
