Job: Voting Rights Communications Fellow, Fuse Washington (Seattle)

JOB DESCRIPTION 

Fuse Washington is looking for a multi-talented individual to support a coalition of progressive organizations working on several legislative campaigns involving voting rights, fair representation, and election administration. This fellowship will support the coalition by joining the communications team and generate content and messaging directly for partners. 

The fellowship is a paid, part-time position with a four-month contract. The position is located in Seattle, WA and will work closely with and report to the Communications Hub Director at Fuse.

Fuse Washington (www.fusewashington.org) is Washington state’s largest progressive organization. We bring people together online and on the ground to create change on the issues that matter most. We focus on four basic strategies: 1) mobilizing more people in our democracy, 2) integrating stronger communications in progressive campaigns, 3) leveraging collaboration between progressive groups, and 4) increasing leadership and accountability with elected officials. 

The Communications Hub, a program house within Fuse Washington, supports progressive organizations with communications and storytelling support. This fellowship position will work within the Communications Hub and will play a hands-on communications role with a broad coalition of organizations working on several priority voting rights campaigns, including the Washington Voting Rights Act. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

Generate content and communications for coalition partners 

• Draft earned and new media content 
  
• Develop creative communications tactics to reach and engage the public 
  

Manage the coalition’s social media accounts 

• Facebook and Twitter accounts 
  

Track earned media 

• Locate and share earned media with coalition partners 
  

Identify and developing stories from across the state 

• Support volunteers as they develop their story for testimonies 
  
• Work with coalition partners to identify strategic stories to collect 
  

Attend weekly coalition meetings in Seattle 

Other responsibilities as determined by Communications Hub Director 

QUALIFICATIONS 

• Excellent writing skills and a knack for storytelling. 
  
• A mind for communications and political strategy. 
  
• Proven commitment to social and racial justice. 
  
• Some traditional and new media experience. 
  
• Creative, innovative, and have a sense of humor. 
  
• Collaborative and thrives working in a team setting. 
  
• Technology friendly. 
  
• Bi-lingual Spanish and English a plus.
