The Democratic Party of North Hempstead, New York is hiring Organizers for the 2017 cycle. This cycle involves several extremely competitive races in a very diverse community. This is a great way to get experience for anybody wanting to be a part of the 2018 campaign cycle, particularly for those desiring to move in to Leadership.

 

Field Organizers will be expected to:


●      Maintain ongoing reporting and communication with the Field Director.


●      Account for organizing goals and reaching weekly goals of voter contact, this will include high amounts of voter registration, canvassing and making phone calls as well as volunteer recruitment – all goals will increase incrementally - these goals must be met.


●      Recruit and engage volunteers, develop volunteer leaders and ensure active volunteer participation in grassroots activities.

●      Organize events and house parties.

●      Work with leaders in their community.

●      Maintain a well-organized office space as well as any other area they may work in.

 

●      Work as part of a team in all manners.

 

●      Work long hours; standard to any Field Organizer.

Qualifications:

●      Enthusiasm and a commitment to winning through a positive “can-do” attitude.

●      Understanding of voter-turnout and the ways in which it is accomplished.

●      Values the importance of achieving and exceeding goals.

●      Ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast paced work environment.

●      Ability to handle stressful situations.

●     Willingness to learn, adapt and be a problem solver.

 

●      Strong written and oral communication skills.

 

●      Knowledge of VAN.

 

●      Experience with previous campaigns, particularly as a paid staff, is advantageous.

 

A laptop and reliable transportation is required (along with a valid driver's license).
Compensation for the positions being offered is generous and does not include benefits. Preference will be giving to those living in the area, however this is not a requirement.
