The Alabama Democratic Party is seeking Deputy Organizing Directors to manage a team of Regional Organizing Directors and Organizers throughout all of Alabama’s 67 counties during the 2020 election cycle. Deputy Organizing Directors will report to the Organizing Director and will oversee the state party’s volunteer engagement and direct voter contact program in their regions. They will directly manage and coach a team of Regional Organizing Directors to ensure effective management and that all voter contact goals are met for their area.
Responsibilities
  • Hiring, managing, training, and mentoring a team of Regional Organizing Directors
  • Develop strategies and systems that lead your team to meet daily and weekly metric goals
  • Work collaboratively to plan ahead and meet large-scale organizing challenges
  • Help author, develop, and oversee execution of  regional, campus, and community organizing plans
  • Communicate clear needs and priorities up and down the management chain
  • Other campaign duties as assigned
Desired Qualifications
  • 2+ years of organizing experience on a large scale electoral or issue based campaign
  • 1+ years of experience managing and coaching full-time staff
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain flexibility and a positive attitude while working with various team and community members from different backgrounds
  • Proficient in Votebuilder and Google Docs
  • Willingness to work long and non-traditional hours, including nights and weekends
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle, laptop, and cell phone
  • Desire to elect Democrats up and down the ticket in Alabama
This position will begin remotely, with the expectation to relocate to Alabama COVID-19 permits. Compensation is $5-6,000 per month with health benefits at no cost to the employee. This is a full-time, exempt position that requires long and non-traditional hours, including nights and weekends.
