The Organize Florida Education Fund/Organize Florida is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that both trains and develops leaders and organizes families in low-to moderate-income communities in Florida. Our vision is for these communities to become critically engaged in the political system in order to create a more just and equitable society.


Opportunity

Organize Florida Education Fund/Organize Florida seeks a highly motivated, talented, and dynamic individual to serve as a Civic Engagement Field Director. The Field Director’s main role is to oversee and manage canvass operations for assigned region. This position will also be responsible for building a strong base of community members to build power in their assigned area. Additionally, they will engage and recruit members and help develop leadership among members.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Implement and be held accountable to a metrics-driven Field Programs (Voter Registration, Petition Gathering, GOTV, etc.)
  • Recruit, train and retain volunteers & paid canvassers on site-based canvass and door-to-door field activities
  • Manage canvassers to achieve benchmark campaign goals
  • Assist canvassers in completing team and organizational goals
  • Willingness and ability to spend long hours in the field – working with canvassers/volunteers
  • Troubleshoot and make adjustments to campaign to maximize effectiveness and efficiency
  • Work with Organize Florida partners on joint actions, trainings, campaigns
  • Complete data entry and maintain data integrity
  • Prepare and submit regular and ad hoc reports
  • Evaluate progress and provide input on ideas for reaching goals and priorities
  • Develop world-class events from project planning and kickoff, to on-site event management and post-event follow up
  • Manage event calendar and identify future opportunities
  • Collaborate with Political Director on organizations political plan
  • Participate in regular Political team meetings and retreats
  • Management of local quality control teams
  • Perform additional job duties and responsibilities as requested

Key Qualifications

  • Commitment and passion for social, racial and gender justice;
  • 2 years of experience in community, labor, or grassroots organizing;
  • Understanding of issues facing low income and minority communities;
  • Comfort with the implementation of a range of organizing strategies and tactics;
  • Willingness to work on local issue campaigns along with contributing to possible statewide and national campaigns.
  • Self-motivated – proven ability to work independently
  • Ability to be a team player and work in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Dedication and ability to work flexible hours
  • Fluency in Spanish preferred
