Maine: Organizers for Maine Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense

Scope of the work

Maine Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense will be engaging campaign field organizers as independent contractors for the state of Maine who will be based in Portland and Bangor. Compensation will be very competitive. Field Organizers will contribute to the field efforts of Maine Moms Demand Action's campaign for background checks. Each Field Organizer will focus on developing volunteer teams. Field Organizers will train and develop volunteer leaders and form leadership teams to ensure that they reach the organization's growth and electoral goals, especially as they relate to the 2016 elections.

Field Organizers will be responsible for overseeing a voter contact team and data management team along with coordinating office volunteers.

Responsibilities

Recruiting, training, and managing volunteers to participate in activities like door-to-door canvassing, phone banking, and other efforts that support the signature gathering phase of Maine Moms Demand Action campaign for background checks.

• Planning and executing regular voter contact and volunteer recruitment events.
• Cultivating volunteer leaders within communities and providing them with ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Individuals must be self-motivated, goal-oriented, and have a strong commitment to accountability.
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities and projects and meet deadlines under pressure.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Willingness to work long hours, including nights and weekends, in a fast-paced environment.
• The ideal contractor will have a working knowledge of political campaigns and campaign technology such as NGP-VAN, Microsoft Excel, and Google Docs.
• Valid driver's license and reliable access to a vehicle.
• Passion for the organization's mission.
• One cycle of campaign experience preferred, but not required.

Maine Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense Fund is a group of Mainers – including gun violence survivors, law enforcement officials, faith leaders, and gun owners – who know that background checks can reduce crime and save lives.
