The Franklin Forum is a media training and messaging organization that coaches TV pundits, non-profit leaders – and through the Franklin Forum PAC, political candidates – on communications strategy.
POSITION
The Executive Assistant will be responsible for supporting the President in the areas of administration, scheduling, and logistics and for supporting the Franklin Forum Team’s organizational needs.This position requires judgment, discretion and drive. Strong writing and people skills a plus. The position will provide exposure to national politics, the progressive movement, and allow for the development of media and messaging skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES
For the President:
Managing the following tasks:
maintaining calendar and contact information
making all travel arrangements
preparing expense reports
maintaining, managing, and updating a daily task list
Acting as “traffic control” interface with both internal and external constituents
Preparing correspondence and other written material, including drafting, editing and proofreading for accuracy, proper grammar and style consistency
Assisting with occasional projects and administration as necessary
For the organization:
Assisting in planning special events, presentations, and conferences
Managing staff calendar and office needs, including preparing for team meetings
Providing support on special projects, including research projects, as needed
Equipment set-up and maintenance
QUALIFICATIONS
Superior organization, scheduling, and prioritization skills, and great attention to detail;
Exemplary written and verbal communications skills;
Self-motivated with a track record of problem solving;
Ability to work with diverse populations and institutions;
Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and multi-task without sacrificing detail, quality or deadlines;
Superior discretion and diplomacy in handling confidential and sensitive issues;
Very strong and demonstrated computer skills, including extensive experience and expert proficiency with MS Office suite, (especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and well versed in Internet research;
Sense of humor, ability to have fun, interest in building a strong culture and high performing team; and,
Bachelor’s degree required.
