Description: A progressive congressional campaign in Midwest is seeking a Field Director to lead the team’s voter outreach, volunteer management, and targeting efforts. This is a full-time staff position, expected to last through Election Day, Nov. 3, 2020. Expected start date of March 1, 2020.
Responsibilities:
Ability to write, execute, and draft a comprehensive, creative, data-driven field plan
Build and manage a field team to execute said plan, including 40-50 volunteer lead organizers in each county in District
Recruit, train, and manage hundreds of volunteers across 30 counties in a largely rural District
Serve as a representative of the campaign on the ground, which includes but is not limited to, speaking on behalf of the candidate at community events, managing and participating in community fairs, parades, and other events, and representing the campaign in other community settings.
Coordinate weekly canvassing and phone bank operations in each of the 30 counties across the District
Implement an intersectional approach to organizing the centers the needs of marginalized people, including but not limited to working class people in District, the LGBTQ+ community, folks with disabilities, and those of other marginalized identities. This is central to all of our organizing work.
Coordinate with other staff members regarding goals, budget, and targeting for the field plan. Manage the overall field plan and ensure compliance in meeting goals.
Qualifications/Additional Info:
1+ cycle of campaign experience, or equivalent, progressive organizing experience
Extensive experience recruiting, managing, and training volunteers
Willingness to invent and implement creative field strategies to reach voters in all parts of an overwhelmingly rural district
Experience with NGP VAN, Google Sheets, and other software programs, or willingness to learn and master these programs
Independent worker, with a high level of professionalism
Understanding of or willingness to learn rural area organizing strategies
Commitment to progressive values
Field Director must be willing to travel extensively, and must have their own vehicle
Compensation:
This is a full-time staff role at $3000/month, plus mileage reimbursement, health insurance stipend, and cell phone stipend. Salary expected to increase with continued campaign fundraising and increased workload.
