BerlinRosen, a leading progressive strategic communications and political consulting firm, is seeking a highly motivated intern interested in getting hands-on experience in communications and media advocacy and campaign strategy. The internship will begin immediately and be located in Washington, DC. This internship will be with the firm’s National Public Affairs team, which works on communications for national and local issues and campaigns around the country.

The intern will work with the National Public Affairs staff in DC and learn the basics of earned media, communications strategy and issue advocacy.  He or she will be asked to focus on a range of projects, including longer-term and day-to-day/immediate tasks assigned by the team. The intern will have the opportunity to work in media markets from coast to coast and responsibilities will include pitch calls to reporters, building press lists, gathering media clips, doing media analysis and research projects, copy-editing and writing press releases, and social media advocacy work.

  • Willingness to hustle and pitch in where necessary
  • Demonstrated interest in news, politics and current events
  • Excellent computer skills including Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Strong social media skills a plus
  • Research skills on search engines like Lexis Nexis and database skills are a plus for work on media database Cision
  • A sense of humor!

DETAILS

  • Internship will start immediately and run through the end of August 2015. The internship could extend longer depending on interns’ availability.
  • 40 hours per week: Interns must be able to work 40 hours/week, Monday - Friday, on a roughly 9-to-5 schedule. Do not apply if you cannot meet this basic requirement.
  • The internship is located in the Washington, DC office – this is not a telecommuting position.
  • Applicants must be college students or graduates looking for entry-level work.
  • Compensation: $15/hour
