Hello,
Our community is changing, our needs are changing, and the challenges we face are changing. We are learning to adapt and finding new ways to face those challenges and fight the battles. The only way we can do that, though, is with quality data in hand. That is why we are looking for two full-time, detail-oriented people-persons who would enjoy speaking to countless people on the phone and via Zoom to run the U.S. Transgender Survey (USTS).
The USTS the largest survey ever devoted to the lives and experiences of trans people. With 28,000 respondents, the survey is quoted daily by news outlets throughout the US, and is the main source of data about trans people for the general public and the trans community itself. The data is well known not only for documenting trans experiences, but for documenting the disparities and higher levels of mistreatment faced by trans people of color.
These two staffers will work remotely for approximately one year to make the USTS the best it can be and ensure it captures the full breadth of our communities. We are looking for people who reflect all of the communities we serve—people who have a commitment to prioritizing justice for trans people, especially those who are most marginalized.
We made changes to our hiring process this year—we have a new diversity statement, an updated EEO policy, and a new online applicant portal to streamline the application process. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, the hiring process will take place over the phone and video.
If you think you might be a good fit, we encourage you to apply now!
If you know of someone who might be great in one of these roles, please share far and wide!
Thanks,
The Team at
NCTE

US Trans Survey Project
Manager
Are you looking for an
opportunity to use your skills to make a significant contribution to the
knowledge base about transgender people? NCTE currently has two different
positions open for the US Trans Survey, a Project Manager and an Outreach
Coordinator. Please be sure that you are applying for the position(s) that you
are interested in.
The National Center for Transgender Equality is hiring a full-time Project Manager to coordinate the preparation and fielding the U.S. Transgender Survey (USTS) in 2021, which will update and build on the 2015 USTS. The position is expected to last approximately one year, through the completion of the field period (in summer or fall of 2021) and may extend into 2022 (to include the reporting/writing period). The Project Manager will coordinate this complex endeavor, ensuring that stakeholders’ input is received by the research team, scientific decisions are made with all needed input, outreach materials are designed and produced, the survey website is updated, and that the survey is properly hosted online. They will work with a full-time Outreach Coordinator, several scientific and community experts, a range of consultants (such as the survey hosting vendor), as well as the research team to get the survey into the field. This position is designed to be remote.
The ideal candidate brings strong interpersonal skills to interact with the over 100 people who will be providing input on this project. We seek a detail-oriented project manager and people person, who enjoys speaking with others by phone and Zoom. Previous experience with survey research is a plus, but not required.
This is an incredible opportunity to help increase understanding of transgender people, including those who are non-binary. The survey research team has already begun designing the survey, which will be online and will be again offered in English and Spanish.
