Summary:
A Progressive challenger in one of Connecticut’s most high profile municipal campaigns of 2019 is seeking to Field Director to oversee a city-wide voter outreach program.The ideal candidate will have previous campaign experience as a field organizer, regional field director, or deputy field director -- though applicants of other combinations of skills and experiences will be considered. The field director will report to the campaign manager and will work closely with the candidate and consulting team.
Position Description
The Field Director will work to recruit, train, and empower a volunteer army to knock thousands of doors, makes thousands of phone calls, and send thousands of texts. In order to accomplish this the field director must not be afraid to get work hard -- you should expect to personally conduct one-on-one meetings, make daily volunteer recruitment calls, and not be afraid to knock a walk packet or two. Additionally, you will be expected to help develop the field plan as well as recruit, train, hire and manage a small team of organizers.
Desired Skills and Experience
Knowledge of Connecticut. Strong preference to those with experience working in one of Connecticut’s urban centers.
Prior campaign experience as a staff member or extensive volunteerism.
Computer skills and the ability to effectively use tools like Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Drive Applications.
Social media proficiency preferred.
Experience with voter databases such as Votebuilder (VAN) preferred.
The ability to work long irregular hours is a must, including nights and weekends.
Must be able to prioritise tasks and stay calm and organized under pressure.
