Have a discussion going on and thought to ask here.  One person says Chitu firmware is modified Sailfish.
Anyone have a thought on this?

Unlikely. The board is an ARM. Sailfish was specifically intended for
8bit AVRs and is heavily optimized for such. Now, Sailfish is the core
for a number of ARM firmwares, most notably it formed the core used on
FlashForge's ARM-based printers starting with the Dreamer 6 years ago.
It's made its way into all sorts of printers that FF makes for other
manufacturers (e.g., Dremels).

Interesting. Do those derivatives also use X3G files or are they now straight gcode?

I know the printers I am talking about that use the Chitu boards are the QIDI X-Pro, Plus and Max.  They use straight gcode.

Now, if you're using the Qidi Tech 1 Printer, its firmware is indeed Sailfish. If it's any other models from the Qidi company, its firmware is definitely not Sailfish. Basically, a Qidi printer with a touchscreen is not installed with Sailfish firmware.
If you have a Qidi Tech 1 Printer, you can take a look at its motherboard, and see if it is a Chitu board. Although I can tell you that it is not, but a motheboard that resembles Makerbot 2X and Flashforge Creator Pro board.

Thanks for the info.  This is just what I thought.
I am being told by people that Chitu firmware is a modified Sailfish.  Is the Chitu firmware in any way related to or derived from Sailfish firmware or is it developed independent of sailfish?

Thanks again.

Now, I think that the firmware in the Chitu board is derived from the Marlin firmware. There's one way to get the answer for sure: Ask a representitive from Qidi Tech "Is the firmware in the Qidi X-Pro or Plus Printer a Marlin firmware or a Repetier firmware"?
