Hello everyone,

Well, what a year it's been! Hope you're all ok. 

Firstly, anyone receiving this who doesn't want to get emails about the playgroup, do let me know asap and I'll remove you - the list must be long out of date.

Secondly, it may be time to start thinking about getting playgroup going again.

As ever, we need a couple of people to volunteer to take the lead. This means having a key to the Community Centre and being there every Thursday at 3:30 to open up, and get out the toys, and then to put them away again at 5pm. That's pretty much it.

And as ever, I can't be that reliable person, with my work - I can do the come-by-with-book-and-guitar bit at 4:15 or so. And to add further complication, we're high risk as a family, so I could only offer my services as a sort of post-playgroup after-party in the playground on Great Clarendon Street, if someone wants to lead a delegation there!

So please get in touch if you might be the person to help get things going again with our dear playgroup. It's been a lot of fun in the past, as this lovely film shows (from 15 mins through...)

Hi James,

Very nice to hear from you can I assume the playgroup will ONLY run outside?

I don't think letting them mix inside yet is a good idea, even if they are low risk themselves it could have them acting as vector point for transmission between families in the community, have youe ver tried making kids keep masks on it just doesn't go well.

Hello again everyone,

I should add: if there's someone who would feel comfortable helping to run the playgroup but only outside, given the risk of infection, then we could think about starting it up as playground-only for now. The playground will be busy with older kids after school, but we could perhaps annexe a corner for tinies, and let the older kids listen in on the stories and songs if they want to.

Or does this contravene current restrictions/common sense? It may do. Do please make suggestions....

I'm assuming the group would go on with 3:30 - 5 on Thursdays, but again, very open to alternative days if helpful.
