500 error when saving a configuration or creating a job

I just recently upgraded Jenkins from 2.7 to 2.55. After restarting everything was fine.  Yesterday I went to the manage plugin page and upgraded all the plugins except for those that said they use different settings and will require jobs to be reconfigured.  Today when updating a configuration and hitting save or trying to create a new job a 500 error is shown on the screen. There are no errors in catalina.out.

How can I determine what is causing the problem?

Nevermind. Our nginx proxy was out of disk space.
