BUILD_ID used to give date, now gives BUILD_NUMBER

Hi,

I posted this on the chat too.

I've just noticed that the Environment variable BUILD_ID has recently (somewhere between 1.595 and 1.646) changed to be identical to BUILD_NUMBER (not much use) when it previously held the start date & time of the build (very useful).
Is this an intentional change?
Is there another variable I can use to find out the start time and date of a build?
