Hi Team,

I have downgraded Jenkins latest version to old version(2.48). I got below error message after launch the Jenkins. Please help me to fix this issues.

Downgrades are generally not supported -- and huge jumps like this even less. You *might* be able to fix this by just replacing all '1.1' in XML files' processing instructions with '1.0', but it's likely that you'll encounter further problems due to the downgrade.

Just restore from backup.

The recommended path is to use and restore your backup. Downgrading is not (yet) a supported use case.

XML version was upgraded from 1.0 to 1.1 in 2.105 https://jenkins.io/changelog/#v2.105

Looking at how often you upgrade, you really should use the LTS vesion of Jenkins, not the weekly. Cf. https://jenkins.io/download/lts/

The only fix (as far as I know) is to edit the XML files and change the '1.1' to '1.0'. You could do that by restoring your XML files from backup or by editing them.

Downgrade of a Jenkins version without downgrading the configuration files to match the Jenkins version is difficult.

I would strongly recommend using this issue as a warning that downgrading is **not** supported with Jenkins data model. Backup your system.

The 1.1 => 1.0 should be a quite simple trick, but there will be cases that you will not be able to handle manually and need to dig into potentially many plugin's source codes to understand what changed.

I came across the same problem when I upgrade jenkins first then downgrade it .

my solution here hopes could help someone:

1. service jenkins stop

2. mv JENKINS_HOME/config.xml JENKINS_HOME/config.xml_bak

3. service jenkins start

then I can use jenkins without authentication. there are still some problems which is not totally fixed

I simply upgrade jenkins again and recover original config.xml by doing:

mv JENKINS_HOME/config.xml_bak JENKINS_HOME/config.xml

service jenkins restart

finally every job can be built again normally. thanks god. I would never trying to do this upgrading/downgrading things without backup!
