Advanced / Deprecated plugins

Within the "Sample Step" drop-down we have an end listing Advanced / Deprecated plugins.

How can I tell which ones are Advanced, and which are Deprecated?

I am, in particular, very confused concerning our use of docker private registries which I'm reading we may be using the wrong plugin for.
