Hello,
Is there any way wherein we can get the sanpshot of the box using the combination of Jenkins and chef. Using chef , we can control any config parameter deployed in the machine. Being Jenkins, a pioneer in the CI world, I hope there must be some way using these two technologies to get the snapshot of the box deployed with recent and latest product artifact.

The whole point is to achieve the rollback mechanism if something goes wrong with deployment. Before i start the deployment, i would like to take the snapshot of the machine and keep it somewhere (may be in some cache ) and switch it to this snapshot if deployment fails.

Let me know

Regards,

Docker might help you to avoid heavy snapshots as you can build once and deploy everywhere.

Other than that, you might need to look for how to automate your snapshots in VCenter or any other infrastructure.

Thanks. Investing on Docker will take some time as the infra is not ready yet.

is this plugin is relevant to my requirement ?

afaik there are two actions for the snapshots in the build step: Take and Revert snapshot, give a try
Cheers
